Not only are her interviews funny and her guests talented, but Ellen also has a big heart, and she shares it on the show often. Rarely an episode goes by that Ellen doesn’t do something to support a charity, a family, or a person in need. She uses her position in the world as a celebrity to spread positivity and to help people. For that alone, she deserves all the kudos in the world.

Though we know Ellen nowadays from her popular talk show, she got her start more than 30 years ago, working as a stand-up comedian. Just by performing as a female comic she broke boundaries in a male-dominated world.

One of her first major appearances was on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson on November 28, 1986. Even at that very early point in her career, she showed that she had what it takes to become a great comic and celebrity. She may not have known at that point where her career would take her, but she showed fierce talent and dedication to her craft.
